China Calls on Israel to Cease West Bank Settlements, Address Gaza Crisis

by admin477351

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on Israel to cease its expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank and to take steps to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. These remarks were made during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at a conference in Azerbaijan, according to China’s Foreign Ministry.

Wang emphasized that the Palestinian issue is a significant historical injustice and advocated for a political solution to the conflict. He urged for the immediate expansion of humanitarian access to Gaza, warning about the deteriorating conditions there. China, he stated, is ready to collaborate with the international community to encourage dialogue and pursue a peaceful resolution.

China has long supported a two-state solution, promoting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. Beijing has also been active in fostering Palestinian reconciliation and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions throughout the Middle East.

In the discussions with Wang, President Herzog highlighted Israel’s focus on peace and security concerns, particularly regarding Iran and its regional allies. The talks also covered bilateral relations and the broader regional context.

The situation in Gaza remains precarious despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025. Challenges persist due to continued Israeli strikes, displacement, and humanitarian issues, while progress on the ceasefire agreement has been stalled by accusations of violations from both Israel and Hamas.

This exchange underscores ongoing international efforts to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, enhance humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and rekindle diplomatic negotiations.
