Kazakhstan Urges Global Diplomacy and Cooperation at UN General Assembly

by admin477351

Kazakhstan is urging the global community to renew diplomatic efforts and enhance international cooperation, as highlighted by Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi during his address to the United Nations General Assembly. Tileuberdi emphasized an urgent need to address conflicts and rebuild trust, citing a growing global trust deficit.

Expressing concern over the ongoing war in Ukraine, Tileuberdi called for resolving conflicts through diplomacy and negotiations. He also condemned drone attacks on Kazakh oil export infrastructure and commercial vessels in the Black Sea, warning these incidents could disrupt navigation, international trade, and global energy supplies.

In addressing the Middle East, Tileuberdi reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for a two-state solution, advocating for an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel. He indicated Kazakhstan’s readiness to contribute to Gaza’s stabilization through civilian reconstruction, food security, and digital government services, and announced Kazakhstan’s intention to join the Abraham Accords.

Tileuberdi also highlighted the importance of Afghanistan’s stability for Central Asia’s security and development, calling for coordinated international engagement through the United Nations. He stressed that humanitarian assistance should be coupled with long-term strategies to address poverty, displacement, and economic dependence.

Renewing its call for nuclear disarmament, Kazakhstan offered to host high-level discussions among nuclear-armed states. Tileuberdi underscored the nation’s experience with closing the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and relinquishing its nuclear arsenal post-independence. He expressed concerns over the weakening of international arms-control efforts and urged nuclear-armed states to continue working toward disarmament.

Tileuberdi emphasized that restoring trust on the global stage requires respect for international law and fulfillment of commitments. He supported greater representation for Asia, Africa, Latin America, developing countries, and middle powers in the UN Security Council. During the General Assembly, he also met with UN officials and foreign ministers to discuss UN reform, regional connectivity, energy, investment, and transport, including cooperation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
