Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic collaboration following discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. The dialogue centered on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation in investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
During the talks, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s primary strategic partner in Europe and noted the significant progress in their relationship over the past thirty years. A key proposal from Tokayev was the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform, aimed at supporting joint projects and facilitating investment flows between the two nations.
Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to discuss potential partnerships in various sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Critical discussions included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
The two countries are further exploring opportunities for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, which could also provide German businesses with greater access to the broader Central Asian market.
