Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have pledged to enhance their bilateral relationship by bolstering cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and regional connectivity, as well as advocating for diplomatic solutions to international conflicts. This commitment was declared after the latest session of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, which was jointly presided over by the foreign ministers of both nations.
The meeting focused on advancing bilateral relations, with officials agreeing to expand collaboration in key sectors like education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. Plans for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were also discussed. A major emphasis was placed on economic collaboration, as both countries vowed to support new investment initiatives and create a more conducive environment for business operations.
Efforts to improve travel, employment, and educational opportunities were also highlighted to strengthen ties between the people of both countries. Regional connectivity was another focal point of the discussions, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the importance of the Middle Corridor as a crucial transport route. The country aims to connect the planned China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, enhancing access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye.
The foreign ministers also addressed pressing regional and global security issues, reaffirming their commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s role in regional mediation efforts and acknowledged Ankara’s support in its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstan plans to use its international platform to promote dialogue among nations and advocate for the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states. This initiative underscores the country’s commitment to fostering global cooperation and addressing the unique challenges faced by these regions on the world stage.
